What happens on a Mission Trip at Mission 911

June 23rd, 2009 | ccmission911

I’m sure we always wonder what happens when someone goes on a Mission Trip. Well you are going to find out. Please take a look at these video clips and be inspired from the youth and adults that are doing the work to help others. I want to thank the youth groups and the leaders for taking time in helping Mission 911.

“Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. Stop criticizing others, or it will all come back on you. If you forgive others, you will be forgiven. 38If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.”

39Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “What good is it for one blind person to lead another? The first one will fall into a ditch and pull the other down also. 40A student is not greater than the teacher. But the student who works hard will become like the teacher.

Keep It Simple

June 16th, 2009 | ccmission911

Greetings
TODAY’S VERSE “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT When we become a Christian, God begins a transformation in our life. His goal is to transform us into all He created us to be. He does this by renewing our mind. This is more than just the way we think, it is also the way we feel. It includes those sensations that send us into mood swings or addictive behavior. God wants to be involved in our emotional pain. He wants to heal our negative memories and restructure our irrational beliefs. But how does He do this? He does this through His Holy Spirit as we study His word, spend time in prayer and fellowship with other believers. It is through this process that we mature into the person He wants us to be. Today, give yourself to God. Submit yourself to the process of change and let Him transform you through the renewing of your mind.

TODAY’S PRAYER Father, I need Your help in making me into the person You want me to be. I give You my mind, my emotions and my will. Guide me, lead me and transform me I pray. AMEN

This was a A one minute e-votional from Ron Ovitt At www.layministry.com from Ron Ovitt this morning. It says it all.

Choices

May 26th, 2009 | ccmission911

We all make choices that impact our lives and as well those that we know. Let me give you some examples of these choices.
This past Tuesday we had a celebration dinner for people that attended our ALPHA classes at the Mission. It was great. We had some people that realized that they needed to make some choices to better their lifestyle. Please click on the videos below to see what some of the choices they are making to better their lives.

Inspiration

This past Saturday we walked the neighborhood around Mission 911. Sixteen volunteers shown up to walk this area of town. We started with a prayer. We had a brief discussion of what was going to take place and we began our journey walking a 5 block area around Mission 911. Volunteers made a choice that Saturday to walk the neighborhood so information could be gathered to help people in this area. We are going to have a “Block Party” June 20th to let neighbors know that we care and we are their for them. What a great choice these volunteers made. Instead of just talking about helping people they are actually taking action to help this neighborhood. We will see what God has planned for this part of town.
Then Sunday I had to make some difficult choices about some residents that are staying here at the Mission. They made some choices that went against our guidelines and they were asked to leave. That was not easy. But we live with our choices.
So as we go forward lets help others to make the right choices in life. In the words of Paul in the book of Colossians says it best:

So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. 10Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.
11We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need.

Colossians 1:9-11

Giving and Sacrifice

May 18th, 2009 | ccmission911

We are so blessed with people that care. This past Saturday a group of ladies from the Insurance Association came out to help the Mission with some donations.
As you watch this video one lady gave up eating lunch for 40 days to help out the Mission. The ladies also gathered a donation to help Mission 911. We were also blessed with “Derecks Boxes” donations. The story of these boxes are attached on this blog. The Mother and other Family members of Dereck were also there to share the heart warming story about thier son. Thank you for all who were part of this great day at the Mission.

Derecks box

Gone from our touch, but never from our hearts!
God has given me a reason to help others start anew and the reason is you
August 21, 2006
The photo on this page is of my son, Dereck Lance McLinn. Dereck was born on August
24th, 1970 in Pratt , Kansas . Dereck died on November 2nd, 2004 in Corpus Christi , Texas at the age of 34. Dereck first entered the doors of Mission 911 on September 3rd, 2004 . At the time I brought him here he had just come in off a run of using meth which began the evening of August 27th, 2004 . He wasn’t able to stay at the mission because he first needed some time to detox. I took him to Memorial hospital where he stayed until September 15th, 2004 . I have reason to believe that after his hospital stay he decided to have another run with his drug using because he didn’t come to our home for help until September 17th, 2004 at 6:50 a.m. Dereck finally ended back up at Mission 911 on Monday September 20th, 2004 . Shortly after his arrival at the Mission I took Dereck to purchase a plastic tub, such as this one, with similar items in it to begin his stay at the Mission and to hopefully begin a program of recovery. Unfortunately for all of us, Dereck chose to leave Mission 911 on Sunday October 3rd, 2004 . For the next month we worried about him and prayed for his safety. On Wednesday evening November 3rd, 2004 while listening to the 5 p.m. news, our worst nightmare became our reality. We heard Dereck’s name on the news and learned of his death. Dereck’s drug usage had led him to commit his final crime which resulted in him shooting and killing an innocent person and in turn, he was shot and killed. All of our hopes and dreams for him turning his life around and turning away from a life of drugs and crime were gone in an instant. We are sharing this story with you in the hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity that God has given to you today. We are giving you these items in memory of my son, Dereck, and to let you know that we care about you and your future. Please take this opportunity seriously. You never know when it may be your last. You are in our prayers. May God bless and be with you.
In Christ’s love,
Dereck’s mom

Action

May 14th, 2009 | ccmission911

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me.
Jeremiah 29:11-13

God is ready to do action in our life. But we also have to be ready aswell. Jeremiah gives us some great points to reflect on so we can be part of the plan. Here are the action steps :

Our Action …………………….. Gods Action

“When you pray” …………………… “He will Listen”

“Seek God” ……………………………. “You will find God”

Just remember God’s plan for you is “Good” not “Bad”. So if things get a little crazy in your life go to God to put back the order you may need. These might be simple steps but they will probly be the most important steps in your life. So go in faith and see the plan God has for you in your attitude of life, marriage,family,work,church, and spirit.

Step foward with God and there will always be an option towards your challenges.

Helping Hand

May 14th, 2009 | ccmission911

Here are some pics from a great Church that came to help out the Mission on May 9, 09. The name of the Church is Oso Creek Fellowship. They were here for a four hrs cleaning rooms and making the rooms look nice. I want to thank God and Oso Creek for suppling the need of our Mission. We also had a study group from the same church drop off household goods and clothing. This will be a big help to our Mission.
Job well done.

POEM

May 10th, 2009 | ccmission911

Sometimes poems makes us think. I hope this poem that someone wrote from our Mission will inspire you to to look at life from a diffrent prespective.

Dear Lord,
Change not Thy will in my life,
Or trial and sorrows to be;
Renew my faith and make me strong,
Change not Thy will, Change me.

Though teardrops fall when trouble comes,
Like the storms on a rolling sea;
Let Thy beacon guide my ship to port,
Change not the storm, Change Me.
When Thy Holy Word I do not understand
And Thy glory I cannot see;
Teach my eyes; give me sight and wisdom,
Change not Thy Word, Change Me.
If the fruit Thou hast given me to eat,
Taste bitter and sour, I plead;
Let not my will but Thine Be Done,

Change not the fruit, Change Me.

If sometimes I murmur and grumble,
Dear Lord, about the cross I carry for Thee;
Keep it firm on my shoulders, but hold my hand,

Change not The Cross, Change Me.

If you change Thy ways to please me,
Dear Lord, I would soon grow cold and turn from Thee;
That You may hear my prayers,

Dear Lord, Change not Thy ways, Change Me.

There is a valley that I must cross,
Someday Thy Face to see;
Lest I forget what power is Thine,

Change not the valley, Change Me.

Have a great day. Remember to keep your memories of you Mother. She might of been the best person in your life or she might of shown you things that you would not have ever seen with anyone else. But just remember without her you would not be here today.

“Honor your Father and Mother”

Prayer

May 7th, 2009 | ccmission911

Today is “National Day of Prayer” through out our Country. Here are some thoughts that we might think about as we pray.
Let’s Pray for Common-Unity. That means pray for us to keep this unity in Christ. Pray that we we stay unified with our marriage,family,workplace,church,and our community. That our common varible is Christ in everything we do. Mostly pray for yourself to have the common varible of Christ in you.
Pray for Restoration. Let God restore what selfishness has destroyed. We know what that is and as we restore let God through you restore others as well. Be with God and let this day and other days to come be a blessing to you and others to whom you come in contact with.

Blessings I Have In My Life

May 6th, 2009 | ccmission911

Our New Website will be running by the end of this week.God willing. ccmission911.org

I hope that my thoughts will encourage you and uplift you to see how God has blessed your life even through your struggles that you may be going through.Here is a thought that I had regading the blessing I have in my life and how I take advantage of them at times.

Do you ever wonder?
Do you ever wonder if the Lord hears your prayers? I know he knows my heart but I still wonder. I look and admire at the beauty he makes everyday. I give thanks for the gifts he has given me even though I do not deserve them at times. I give thanks for the gifts of my children. Everyday they want our attention just like the Lord wants our attention everyday. I say to myself what great kids I have. They are beautiful full of life and very smart. Why do I ask more from God, when he has given me the perfect package in my kids. They want to be with their Dad but I just want them to be around me when I want it. How selfish. I see them sleeping and I see the peace in their faces. God I ask in my prayer for you to take care of them. And you give them a grandmother and grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousins that love them and take care of them and play with them. You provide different things for them to do. I just don’t take the time to do it with them. Then I wonder if you ever hear my prayers? You have provided me with a beautiful wife and yet I do not give her the attention she deserves. She is smart, loves sports, cooks well, works hard, cares about her body, spends time with her kids, try’s to take care of me, and finds time to share her time with the Lord. She loves music and I love to hear her play the piano and Guitar. Would you want any different person as a Wife? And my prayer is that God helps me understand my wife. What is there to understand? It’s all there just spend time with her. Once again I wonder does God hear my prayers? How blind I am at times. God provides a truck, a van, nice house, a great Dog, great friends, good support team, great church family, food, a healthy environment to live in, family is there in a press of a button. Then I pray for God to provide the means for my family to live with. How blind am I? Once again does God hear my Prayers? God has does his part of the work in our family I think its time for me to do my part.
Thank you God for answering the prayer.
